What’s new
Every Lastslate release, newest first. The app updates itself, so the version you have is probably the one at the top. To check, open Settings → General and click Check now.
1.0.0
Lastslate 1.0 is the release we are comfortable calling finished: the editor, the pages, the drafts and the AI collaborator that reads but never writes. Most of what changed since 0.1 is about trust.
- Keep the AI out of covered work. One switch in Settings → General → Privacy turns every AI feature off on this computer. To keep AI off for a single script, mark it as covered work on its title page. Either way, nothing from the script reaches a model.
- A record of what the AI did. File → Export AI Involvement Statement… saves a dated account of every AI feature used on a script: what ran, what left this computer, and what the AI never does. PDF or Markdown. It never includes your text.
- Compare two drafts. Pick any two drafts and see what changed, scene by scene, with a change memo you can export for a producer or a writers’ room.
- Updates, your call. Turn off automatic updates in Settings → General and Lastslate checks only when you click Check now. A version it finds waits for your Download click.
- Sign-in links that keep working. The link in your email still signs you in after you quit the app, after an update, and on Windows when the app was closed. If a link has expired, the sign-in screen says so and offers a new one.
- A Send button in the chat. Enter still sends. The Free plan’s daily allowance now counts the questions you ask, not retries or answers you stopped early.
- Plainer messages. Sign-in, update and local-model problems are explained in ordinary words, with what to do next. A failed card payment is called out in Settings → Plan before anything lapses.

- Updates install on their own. Lastslate downloads new versions in the background and switches to them the next time you quit. To switch sooner, click Restart Lastslate in the banner. Your work is saved first.
0.1.84
- Lastslate Companion Mode. Writing in another editor? Companion Mode is a small window that reads the script file you save there and answers questions about it. It never edits your file. How Companion Mode works.
0.1.80
- Write every day. The flame in the bottom bar counts your days in a row. Milestones get a small celebration, and a reminder at the hour you choose keeps a streak from slipping.
Before that
Lastslate shipped for Windows in August 2026 (the announcement), and the Mac beta ran from May 2026. Questions about an older version? Say hello.
